An honest, in-person evening on actually using AI in the parts of life that matter — your health, your money, and your everyday.
No PhD talk. No buzzwords. Just real, lived-in experience and what's worked — shared in a room, in person, over good coffee in Teaneck.
★ Featuring speaker Derrick G. Burr — live at Hibiscus & Beans, Teaneck
Pick the part that speaks to you. You'll leave able to put it to work the same night — not someday.
Walk into appointments prepared and walk out understanding what was said.
Use AI as a steady thinking partner for everyday money calls.
The confidence to use — and even build with — AI from a standing start.
I was raised in Harlem, in a household led by my grandmother. My parents were part of my life. However, the truth is, it was my village that raised me: the neighbors, the mentors, the office huddles, and the everyday people who shaped how I see the world and how I carry myself in it.
That upbringing became the foundation for an unlikely career. Over 32 years in information technology, I've held key technical roles at some of the most respected institutions in the world — including MBIA, UBS, ADP, and BNP Paribas — along with a major strategic consulting engagement at Allergan Pharmaceuticals. Today, I lead a team of six at Bausch + Lomb, the world's #1 eye health company.
What I'm most proud of is what isn't on my résumé. I hold no college degree, not a single college credit, and no technical certifications. Everything I know, I learned by doing — and by paying close attention to the brilliant people who mentored me along the way. They taught me to strategize, to analyze, and to think several steps ahead, and those lessons have carried me further than any diploma or certification could have.
From the very beginning, I've treated artificial intelligence as a partner in my growth, incorporating it into the forward-thinking, future-focused person I am today. I wake up every morning with a sense of purpose, and that's something I count among my greatest blessings.
I'm a happily married father and a proud member of my community, and I'm committed to giving back: sharing what I've learned, passing along my tips for success, and staying engaged with the people coming up behind me. My story is a reminder that where you start doesn't have to determine where you end up, and that curiosity, the right mentors, and a refusal to stop learning can carry you a long way.
